Summit Fellows

Previously the Ada Lovelace Fellowship, the Summit Fellowship was developed in 2013 by Summit Chair Addie Wagenknecht and OSHWA Director Alicia Gibb as a way to encourage People of Colour, Indigenous people, women, LGTBQIA+ people in open technology and culture to actively participate and foster a more diverse community within open source. The Summit Fellowship is run with support from the community with the Super Attendee ticket level and through granting bodies for additional funding. We provide a 500$ travel stipend to help get our Fellows to the Summit, and online programming to encourage their growth in open source through socials and workshops. Over the course of 10 weeks leading up to the Summit we run mentor talks, welcoming creators in the community to show all the ways that open source hardware can exist.

2013-2021

Between 2013 and 2021 we helped 80+ fellows attend the Summit. We kept our fellows anonymous at that time, but wanted to honor them and the number of participants in this space.
