Open Hardware Summit 2024

Concordia University and LESPACEMAKER; Montreal, Canada

The 2024 Open Hardware Summit took place May 3 & 4, 2024 at Concordia University and LESPACEMAKER in Montreal, Canada

The Open Hardware Summit is the annual conference organized by the Open Source Hardware Association a 501(c)(3) not for profit charity. It is the world’s first comprehensive conference on open hardware; a venue and community in which we discuss and draw attention to the rapidly growing Open Source Hardware movement.

The Open Hardware Summit was founded in 2010 by Alicia Gibb and Ayah Bdeir with support from Peter Semmelhack and Bug Labs in its founding years. Read more about the history of the organization and feel free to contact us with any questions.

Early birds can join us at Radio Snack for a Hardware Happy Hour hosted by Helen Leigh and Crowd Supply.

On day one of the Summit we will open with a keynote from Danielle Boyer on Indigenous language protection and robots that help keep languages alive. Then we will go into talks from Ashwin Whitchurch on open source medical devices, Rodney Trusty on manufacturing e-textiles, Guy Dupont talking about making bespoke hardware for loved one, Fiona Bell on developing sustainable biomaterials for 3D printing and Gracy Whelihan's pseudo random number generator.

Plus another 15 talks covering all kinds of oshw topics.

Then we welcome you to join us at North Star for a night of pinball and fun!

Day two you can find us at LESPACEMAKER for workshops and unconferencing. The unconference will run based on topics YOU suggested the day before! For workshops you'll be able to craft wi-fi access points, make a robot butterfly, sense the world around you with EMF, make paper, design an interactive mural and so much more.

Looking forward to a wonderful Summit in Montreal!
