Hi OSHWA pals,
We can’t believe another year is coming to an end, and we are so excited about everything we accomplished together.
First, we hit 3,000 certifications in the database which was a huge milestone! We’re now quickly approaching 200 more and can’t wait to see what certs come in next. We have been having tons of fun getting to highlight new projects every month in the Show & Tell Monthly livestream. This year we heard from 24 different creators and saw so many ways that open source hardware can exist.
We also got to celebrate our return to the European continent with the 2025 Open Hardware Summit in Edinburgh, Scotland. We welcomed 37 speakers who specialized in everything from robotics to wearables to scientific sensors, not to mention 11 incredible workshops! It was a wonderful gathering and we’re already prepping for next year.

The 2026 Open Hardware Summit is currently accepting proposals for talks, workshops, exhibitions, and performances to happen in Berlin, Germany on May 23rd and 24th at TU Berlin.
You can also apply to be a Summit Fellow to receive a stipend for travel and mentorship opportunities leading up to the event.
OSHWA hosted the first Open Healthware Conference in August as part of our NSF grant work on uncovering how we can help bring the open source medical field together. It was truly exciting to gather such an amazing crowd of health professionals in NYC and hear about all the approaches. We are looking forward to hosting the second OHC in San Francisco in July 2026. More details to come!
For Open Hardware Month we ran a 12hr livestream where we got to check in with open source creators all over the world. It was full of fun, projects and sloths! These long haul livestreams have been a huge labour of love and it’s been a delight to get to hang out with folks in this way.
As we wind down for 2025 we want to say thank you. Our community is so wonderful and we are so lucky to constantly be working with and learning from such amazing people! OSHWA would not be the same without each and every one of you.
